چکیده

INTRODUCXION Gas hydrates are crystalline molecular complexes formed from mixtures of water and suitably sized gas molecules. Based on hydrogen bonding, water molecules form unstable lattice structures with several interstitial cavities. The gas molecules can occupy the lattice cavities and, when a minimum number of cavities are occupied, the crystalline structure becomes stable and solid gas hydrates are formed, even at temperatures well above the ice point[ll. The known gas hydrate structures are; structure-I, structure-II, and the recently discovered structure-H[2].

Processes and apparatuses for formation, separation, pelletizing storage and re-gasification of gas hydrate

In recent years, the feasibility of utilizing gas hydrates in industrial systems draws much attention as a subject of engineering studies. Despite the suggested applications for gas hydrate in transportation and storage of natural gas, desalination of water, etc., there have been few applied industrial experiences with gas hydrates. There are several patents and papers on promotion of gas hydra...

Experimental Measurement and Kinetic Modeling of Ethane Gas Hydrate in the Presence of Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate Surfactant

Abstract: In this work, the kinetics of ethane hydrate formation has been studied experimentally and a kinetic model based on chemical affinity has been described for predicting the hydrate growth process in the stirred batch reactor at a constant volume. The experiments were done with both pure water and aqueous solution of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The effect of SDS on formation kineti...

Measurement of Mass Transfer Coefficients of Natural Gas Mixture during Gas Hydrate Formation

In this study, mass transfer coefficients (MTC’s) of natural gas components during hydrate formation are reported. This work is based on the assumption that the transport of gas molecules from gas phase to aqueous phase is dominant among other resistances. Several experiments were conducted on a mixture of natural gas at different pressures and temperatures and the consumed gas was monitored an...

Modeling of Gas Hydrate Formation in the Presence of Inhibitors by Intelligent Systems

Gas hydrate formation in production and transmission pipelines and consequent plugging of these lines have been a major flow-assurance concern of the oil and gas industry for the last 75 years. Gas hydrate formation rate is one of the most important topics related to the kinetics of the process of gas hydrate crystallization. The main purpose of this study is investigating phenomenon of gas hyd...

Forecasting Diffusive Formation of Free-gas Methane Layers in Sea Sediments

We study diffusive transport of aqueous methane in sea sediments, which is important for formation of methane hydrate and gas deposits and has even been claimed to be principal methane transport mechanism for some geological systems. The isothermal diffusion law (Fick's law), D X = − ∇ J , which is employed in the literature for investigations on methane hydrate, is shown to significantly devia...
